Achieving Hi-tech Prevention

Preventive Care commences with a full examination of all parts of the mouth including Panoramic radiography (a wide x-ray) - for the first series only, to display what is beneath the surfaces of teeth and bone.

The Laser diagnostic probe measures the degree of decay present and whether urgent removal is essential (or whether removal may be delayed, perhaps indefinitely, when the decay is dormant)

Digital radiography
with only milliseconds’ exposure to x-rays, provides almost instant imaging of treatment-in-progess.

The Intra-oral video-camera’s ceiling-mounted screen shows patient and dentist to view greatly magnified images from within the mouth.

Saliva – Testing, where indicated, employs sensitive strips to measure acidity. the need for Carifree Decay Prevention can be assessed by hand-held computer which may indicate the possibility of innoculation against decay-causing bacteria.

'Preventive Instruction and "Zoom" Whitening are among the special skills of our Oral Health Therapist, Anders Claessen'

All the above aids, plus tests for cracked teeth, for a disturbance of the temporo-mandibular joint and for an assessment of malocclusion help to produce a diagnosis and programme for dental longevity.

Hi- Tech Treatment

Hi-tech restorative care may involve using the Cerec (Ceramic Reconstruction) CAD/CIM instrument to a crown or a bridge, prepared and completed at the chairside, on the same day (and often in one sitting). Non-vital teeth are bacteria-free, using an ultra-slow, lo-torque, auto-reverse canal-measuring Endodontic handpiece and the Waterlase sterilisation.

Accurate tooth shade assessment is performed using the Easy-shade diagnostic beam while in many cases, healing is enhanced through the application of Low-level Laser energy.

Laser and Piezo-surgical instrumentation for cavity preparations and surgical procedures is vibration-free, non-revolving and almost totally trauma-free, with water sprays. K.C.P.(Kinetic Cavity Preparation instrument) utilises a fine jet of air to direct small particles (50 microns) to shape cavity and incorporates a PAC- Light (Plasma Activated Curing Light) for rapid polymerisation of tooth-coloured filling materials.

Preventive Orthodontics is commenced at an early age, sometimes as young as four years, using soft, loosely-fitting Orthopedic Trainers, worn at night and over the weekends and school holidays. Crooked and crowded teeth are realigned without archwires or springs.

For adults, as well as conventional, fixed archwires with bonded brackets, the INVISALIGN system, involves a series of clear plastic, invisible aligners (like upper and lower mouthguards). Created by computerised mass -manufacture, the aligners move all the teeth, a quarter of a millmetre per fortnight, predictably, painlessly and very comfortably. Worn all the time, aligners are removed only for eating an d cleaning.
